We write today (finally) with great excitement and anticipation for what is to come within the next month. First, and most exciting, Joshua’s chair should be arriving by the end of October! We are thrilled to finally have the right equipment to start our mission!
This realization would not have been possible without the encouragement and support from everyone who has reached out to us. We would like to take the time to say Mahalo to all the following *see below* who have contributed to our push to the finish line. Your generous contributions of time and money were able to provide all the funds necessary for Joshuaʻs race chair!
With the arrival of Josh’s chair comes our first race! On Saturday, November 14th, Josh and I, along with a team of supporters, will be running in the 10k race at the Old Koloa Sugar Mill Run here on Kauaʻi. I have been training hard with a small team led by awesome trainer Pam Kruse of Fitbodies Kauaʻi. The workouts have been so helpful that I shaved 1:05 off of my 5k pace average (from 10:50 to 9:45).
Be a Part of |#TeamJosh | I AM MY ABILITY
We would like to invite you to come participate in this race with us! Join #TeamJosh as we promote our campaign: I am my ability/I am not my disability. Don’t worry though--we’re not asking everyone to run the 10k (6.2mi). The Old Koloa Sugar Mill Run has a 5k (3.1mi) run, 5k walk, as well as a Half-Marathon. If you want to be part of #TeamJosh and represent our campaign, register online for the event of your choice.
Our Next BIG step...
Proceeds will be used toward our future endeavor: running the Shamrock Half-Marathon Run out in Portland, Oregon come March 2016. Your generosity will help cover flight costs first and foremost, and possible lodging and ground transportation thereafter. This will be our FIRST EVER HALF MARATHON! We are pushing forward on this event in particular because we’ll be running with our teammate, Lucas Gushikuma—he’s been in Portland for college so we thought, why not!
Your readership and messages have been the fuel to what we want to do! We can't break the walls of differences alone. Thanks for being there alongside of us. Love you all!
Gotta Run. Try to Keep Up,
*Mahalo to all who donated:
